The following review written by one of the Software Informer contributors applies to version 2.5
Bigasoft MKV Converter is a multi-format video and audio converter. Although the name of this converter suggests that only MKV files can be converted, it can open a variety of other files and convert them to both video and audio formats. The application makes use of conversion profiles to make conversion easier. You will find default profiles such as MP4, AVI, XVID, etc., and you will also find profiles for mobile devices and video game consoles.
Bigasoft MKV Converter has a very simple user interface, with huge buttons at the top for the main features. There is a video player that allows you to preview your files. You can add files by dragging and dropping or by using the "Add file" button.
In terms of performance, Bigasoft MKV Converter works very well. I tested it with a 720p MKV file, which I converted to an MP4 file via the iPhone conversion profile. The whole process took a little over 30 seconds and the quality of the file was great for playback on said device. I didn't find any artifacts or sync problems.
All in all, Bigasoft MKV Converter is a very basic converter. It lacks some features that an MKV converter should have. For example, there are no options to rip subtitles or to hard-code them into converted files. MKV files often come with several audio and subtitle tracks, and with this app, there is no way to choose which one you want to use. |
